Our yard-dwelling little downy woodpecker girl has a male friend who has started coming around...

A few days ago, I got my first pictures of a downy woodpecker (at least, pics that filled the frame and were not a speck somewhere on a tree-trunk). Today, I was delighted to find out that we also have a male in the neighbourhood. I don’t think he lives in the tree in our yard like she does, but he’s certainly not refusing to share the feeder. I’m so excited about it I am going to post this one right after midnight so it is up for everyone first thing in the morning…

Don’t worry, the bird onslaught isn’t going to end any time soon…
