<p style="text-align: left;">I haven&#8217;t been so completely disappointed by an image for a long time. I was photographing this mare when she turned and looked at me. You couldn&#8217;t see her face through the fly mask, but the sun glinted off her her eye and flashed right through the screening. I shot several frames and they looked great on my camera&#8217;s little screen.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">When I went to process them from RAW, I found a problem. The sharpness of the image just wasn&#8217;t there. I usually prefer to only use images that are really clear, but I couldn&#8217;t give up on this one.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Besides, it isn&#8217;t like anyone is looking at this site anyway.</p>

<p>For some reason, I like frustrating myself by taking spontaneous portrait shots in low light. Something about the light appeals to me. I have no idea if anyone has ever coined the phrase before, but I like to call my pictures in these situations &#8220;Failing Light Photography&#8221;. It&#8217;s sort of my &#8216;thing&#8217;. It frequently turns into simply &#8220;Failed Photography&#8221; when the subject moves or I jiggle the camera.</p>
