Lodge Bench

Near sunset at the Lakeshore Lodge sector of Sandbanks Provincial Park

The actual lodge at Lakeshore Lodge is long gone, it burned down years ago and had stood unused for years before that. But, back in the age before freeways, people came there from the other end of Lake Ontario by steamship. The land is now a part of Sandbanks Provincial Park.

Near my childhood home was a street named “Deerfield”. I’ve since moved away from the suburbs and very much prefer this kind of deer field.

My son (3yo) strolls along the beach at Sandbanks on Earth Day, April 22, 2008.

We have a family tradition of doing an outside “treasure hunt”, not quite Easter, not quite anything else. Last year we did it on April 22, which is Earth Day.
